In two weeks we will be presenting our project in a TED talk at our school, we still need to finish out script. In the mean time we talked to our principal and asked if we could do a “Slipper day” on May 9th and she said yes! It is for the whole school and it costs $1 dollar to wear them and all the money will be split up between two horse rescues that we have researched thoroughly. Long Meadow Rescue Ranch and Equamore. We will be taking a jar and asking if we can put it at the front desk at the Office. It would say “Quarters for Quarter horses”. I think most of the donations would be from visiting parents. It is still under consideration that we might have a bake sale in the next two weeks.

Three days ago 11 horses were rescued from a farm in Laclede County. They were starving, there bones were easily visible through their slowly-shedding winter fur. When the authorities arrived, the man who owned the farm was arrested and all the horses found were alive.

Well… The little cookie sale I did for my team at school didn’t go over as planned. We only made like $8. Sad isn't it? Well I have another idea that might take less work. I was going to ask my principal if I could host a day at school where people wear their pajamas, or favorite hats, or wear gear from their favorite sports team. They would pay a dollar to wear it and it would be for the whole school to participate in. When it is over I will give all of the money to Long Meadow Rescue Ranch. For the next fundraiser I will give the money to a different organization. If you have any questions about our projects or what we plan to accomplish, please just leave a comment on any of our posts asking whatever it is you would like to know.

Thousands of horses are being abandoned and abused each year. Owners can’t afford their horses so they “get rid” of them in the most horrible ways. Charities are having a hard time finding room to house abandoned and injured horses. Many horses are being slaughtered and the meat is being sold to zoos and dog food companies. One Rescue shelter in England has taken up to 10 a day. This is a serious issue, and these organizations need money to help tend for the animals. Please, please, please help me save these poor animals. My friends and I can only donate so much because we are teens, but if you help we could save many horses. Please and thank you. To donate you can go to the website of your selected charity and most of them will have a donation link. Comment to let me know if you plan on donating. Thanks!

While we are collecting money on our own, we don't really have the right permits to have a website where people can donate to us. Our solution is to collect money with bake sales or other fundraisers, and you guys can go to one of the listed organizations. There are just a few but the smallest donation can make a big difference. And don’t forget to tell you friends about us and maybe check out these websites.

Looking at the audience for our blog, it seems to me we aren't very out there. In other words, no one is reading our blog. So for the few people who do, I beg you please tell your friends, family and even people you don’t know. The situation we want to help is not a very known problem, therefore we want to get the word out so we can have as many people as possible supporting us. Currently we are planning a benefit concert to raise money. It will be sometime in the spring. All we have to do is find a date to have it on. We need money to have a concert. For people to donate, people need to know we exist. That is why we need your help. And PLEASE comment on the last blog post, we need ideas.
